Very distinguished
"Beautiful, very refined nose with scents of cocoa, spices, vanilla, black cherries and liquorice. Very distinguished. Mouth of an exceptional breed with an attack both imposing and refined, dense and compact with a lot of depth and flavors that bring style on the palate. The tannins are rich and very refined, with perfect maturity. Endless finish that reveals flavors, intensity and power. Exceptional wine. 2022-2040. "

Very big success
"Deep, dark color. Just perfect color. Intense and very expressive nose. Very ripe and delicious but with energy. Awesome stuff! Really very accomplished. Obviously, very carefully crafted - essence of the appellation with a character of dried fruit but not too much and a lot of roundness. Masses of tannins almost completely hidden by the dramatic but precise fruit. Very great success. Drink 2025 - 2042 "

The best 2016
"The top wine is the 2016 Château Croix de Labrie, a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that was raised all in new barrels. It offers additional richness and depth, with awesome notes of crème de cassis, spicy oak, licorice , and some chocolate all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied and nicely textured, with ripe tannins, it's going to benefit from short-term cellaring and see its 20th birthday in fine form. "

Black fruits, touches of dried flowers
"Château Croix de Labrie 2016 comes from vines on the slope of Pavia on clay and chalk soils, plus a seam of schist. It is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% 100-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon, from 2.5 hectares in total. One fifth of the crop is fermented in 500 liter barrels. This is 14.39% alcohol and an IPT of 71. It is matured in 100% new oak ( (also in 500 liter barrels). It has a simple bouquet with nice black fruits, hints of pressed flowers, just a hint of vanilla. The palate is medium bodied with a slight grip on the entry, spotted black fruits There is a good level of acidity here, quite structured but with a slightly abrupt end. It should develop quite a bit during its aging and it really improved when I returned to the glass after 40 minutes. "

Freshness
“Juicy and enveloping tannin, we like the fleshy palate and the spicy depth. We are in a crooner style with a freshness that perfectly complements the finish.” Bernard Burtschy: 16
"As in 2015, the wine is strongly colored with spicy and woody aromas. The wine is supple and ample, woody, suave, with very present tannins, but the whole is well enveloped with a better balance than in 2015 thanks to a hint of freshness. A great success. It was made with 92% merlot and 8% cabernet-sauvignon and it has a 14.5 ° grade. 3-10 years. "

In the Top of Bordeaux 2016
"This shows so much violet and dark-berry character on the nose. So enticing. Full-bodied with chewy and polished tannins, blackberries and eucalyptus and a light, menthol note to finish. A rich yet touching wine. Try after 2023."

Finesse
"Dense garnet red. Complex bouquet marked by limestone notes and refreshing scents of mint. Airing reveals notes of liquorice and tea leaves. Racy and compact character on the palate. Croix de Labrie is well supported by its structure which has liveliness and juice. I find the minerality already noted on the nose, in the mouth. A wine of character which shows its origins well and which has everything to make a long epic. The tannins are tight, with fine grains and in keeping with the structure. Expressive and persistent finish. 2023-2041 "

Among the 13 best in St Emilion »
"Axelle and Pierre Courdurié continue their progress in the small Domaine Croix de Labrie. This year, it is one of the 13 best wines of Saint Emilon! Croix de Labrie was harvested from October 2 to 16 and consists of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% were fermented in new 500 liter barrels, the rest in small vats of a maximum of 26 ° C, aging takes place in 100% new barrels. Solid black color . A wide and deep bouquet with enormous fullness, aromas of ripe fruit, great sweetness with a top note of liqueur in the nose and a fresh and crunchy component of red berries, fine woody scents, a very intense smell . Widely spread on the palate, with a very natural mouth feel and full body, it bursts with a deep chocolate-cherry structure, with fine acidity and good tension, as well as long polished and long tannins. Long and sweet aroma with power and rich in meat, very spicy and p uissant. Despite its volume and creamy texture, it is light and elegant at the same time. An impressive and deep Croix de Labrie with feminine delicacy and intense fruit-inspired flavors. "

Power and finesse
"The nose is elegant and offers power, finesse, subtlety as well as a little straightforward side. There are notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and more slightly crushed red berries associated with discreet hints of spices, cardamom, with a very discreet hint of blueberry as well as very discreet hints of tonka bean and an imperceptible hint of Sichuan pepper. The palate is silky, balanced, very discreetly tight, precise, elegant , chiseled and offers a nice smoothness, delicacy, subtlety, a nice finesse of the grain, a nice smoothness, tension, freshness, a nice gluttony as well as a nice tangy frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy blackcurrant and more slightly fleshy small red berries associated with fine touches of fleshy / fresh blueberry, toasted, liquorice, a very discreet hint of cherry as well as discreet hints of spices and cardamom. nnins are fine, elegant and finely firm. Good length and persistence. Presence of an imperceptible hint of tonka bean on the persistence. "
