Jean-Marc Quarin:  18/20 - 96 Points

Since the superb 2013, Axelle and Pierre Courdurié have never ceased to surprise me! They offer a wine with a very different taste profile in the Saint-Emilion landscape. Dark, intense color with black reflections. Very aromatic, fine, fruity and truffle nose. Soft on the attack and even more fat in the middle, with a lot of taste, the wine melts on the palate, rich, generous, while stretching over a straight body. Very long, dry finish on one of the finest grains of tannins ever seen here. It's delicious and particularly tasty right now. Blend: 97% merlot, 3% cabernet sauvignon. Yield: 30 hl / ha. 2028 - 2060.

Croix de Labrie - 97% Merlot + 3% Cabernet Sauvignon This wine or should I call it baby wine started a bit mute but after 15 minutes in a carafe, it turned afterburners on! Deep and intense nose of black fruit (blueberries / blackberries with great flair, concentrated and seamless on the palate Voluminous with great complexity and long fruity finish Seamless so you can't feel the tannin Alcohol? Where is it? Completely "eaten" or packed in or integrated / masked by fruit This is very, very impressive effort indeed!

WINE GREEN:  96-97 points

“The nose is fruity, greedy, racy, elegant, fleshy and offers a nice definition, complexity as well as finesse. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, very ripe blueberry and more slightly wild raspberry associated with small touches of liquorice, blue berries, strawberry, pepper as well as very fine hints of tobacco, nutmeg. and blueberry. The palate is fruity, balanced, racy, elegant and offers a nice pulpy / juicy fruit, depth, generosity, a nice grain, a fine acidulous frame, tension as well as freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy / juicy blackberry, strawberry and more slightly blueberry associated with touches of blue berries, raspberry, blueberry / lilac as well as a subtle hint of licorice / licorice stick and toasted hazelnut. The tannins are elegant, fine, racy and structuring. A little salinity on the finish with very fine toasted / grilled hints. ”

FALSTAFF:  96 points

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violet Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Mit einem Hauch von kandierten Veilchen floral unterlegte dunkle Waldbeerfrucht, zart rauchige Edelholzwürze, attraktives Bukett. Saftig, elegant, reif Kirsatrier, extrachutiner Nougte Kirsatrier, Tiefchutiner Nougteness und lange anhaftend im Abgang, zarter Schokotouch im Nachhall, sicheres Entwicklungspotenzial, schöner Vieilles Vignes-Charakter. "

LAND OF WINES:  94-95 points

“This wine stands out in the panel because it is built on the edge of acidity. Scarlet color, fine aromas of red flowers and tar, suave and grainy attack, announcing a very high balance, between zan and anise. Lots of effort on this property which is on the edge of the big step. "

"The 2019 Croix de Labrie offers upfront black cherries, blackcurrant and cedar aromas on the nose, quite intense but well defined. The oak here is neatly assimilated. The palate is vibrant on the entry with layers of creamy black and blue fruit, silky smooth in texture with a modicum of restraint on the finish. It's one of the best wines that I have tasted from this SaintÉmilion Grand Cru in recent years.

BETTANE & DESSEAUVE:  92/93 points

MARKUS DEL MONEGO:  92 points

"A rich yet elegant wine with dark purple color, violet hue and black core. Excellent nose with multilayered aroma reminiscent of ripe dark berries, elegant toasting, balmy character with hints of tobacco leaf, vanilla and gingerbread spices in the background. On the palate well-structured with concentrated character, disctinct freshness, ripe yet firm tannins, juicy fruit and convincing length. "

ANTONIO GALLONI (VINOUS):

"The 2019 Croix de Labrie is rich, creamy and expansive on the palate. Raspberry jam, mocha, spice, licorice and pomegranate build effortlessly. A hint of reduction lingers, but hopefully breeding will take care of that.

MARIE ROGINSKA (VINVINOWINE)

“Axelle and Pierre Courdurié work their little jewel of 5.7 ha of vines on a magnificent and very complex terroir of clays rich in iron oxide, sandy clay and limestone plateau, the plots next to Château Pavie and on the plateau of Saint-Christophe des Bards. Axelle works in the vineyard and in the cellar in organic and biodynamic ways. It is a work of haute couture which is done manually from pruning to bottling, including harvesting, vinification and aging. Every gesture counts, everything is perfectly precise. Each plot, each terroir is worked individually. Here we have adopted a Burgundian concept to highlight the terroir with all its assets. The 2019 is blended with 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlots are juicy, ripe and fresh, this touch of Cabernet adds a peppery and minty note. The wine is dense with great generosity, a very elegant fruity and floral note, everything is precise with a certain sophistication, it is racy and persistent, tailored for the future. ”

James Suckling:  97-98 Points

This is really special and intense, showing incredible energy and brightness with perfumes that just jump out. Full body and incredible length. Changes all the time. So complex. Notes of iron, too. Love this. 97% merlot with cabernet sauvignon.

Yves Beck:  94-95 Points

Purplish purple. What intensity and plurality in this bouquet! It reveals its aging well, but the latter quickly gives way to notes of black berries and spices, followed by a typical chalky touch. It is on the palate that Croix-de-Labrie is best revealed. It has race, temperament and is endowed with fine tannins which gain in dimension and intensity along the palate. The structure confers tension and supports the aromatic expression until the end of the mouth. Fruity and persistent finish. A wine that manages to create the symbiosis between elegance, power and temperament. 2024-2039.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider:
95-97 Points

"Inky dark purple in color, you know this is intense from the moment the wine hits your glass. Chocolate, vanilla, blackberry, blueberry, smoke, flowers, licorice, and raspberry notes take no effort to find. There is good lift, loads of crushed rocks, opulent, velvety textures, and layer after layer of chocolate-covered black cherries. This could be the best wine yet from Croix de Labrie! "

Virtual En Primeurs And Wine Tastings Have Taken Off "This 90/10 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from winemakers Axelle and Pierre Courdurié is produced organically A lively garden of energetic aromas and juicy fruits — including boysenberries, blueberries, cocoa powder, eucalyptus and nettle In the mouth, this is a barking farmyard of flavors — think gooseberries, mint, eucalyptus, licorice, chocolate and cream all embedded in a fiery, joyful matrix A river of splendor here.

XL VINS - VINTAGE 2019: "TOP 15 OF THE BEST 2019"  98+ points

“Very expressive, very deep nose, on notes of black fruits with perfect maturity. Very pretty floral dimension when aired, what depth! Beautiful notes of cassis, blackberries, black cherries, blueberries, and magnificent fresh violets elevate the wine. Very nice texture, of a beautiful flexibility, very worked, which gives freshness to the whole. The tannins are fine and express themselves in a very well constructed, long, and coherent finish. Note a slight crunchiness that adds pep in a very lively finish, with a saline touch. Very "dark" (for the dark fruit side), very fresh, very long: it is very successful! "

BERNARD BURTSCHY:  96-97 points

“For several years, Croix de Labrie has produced superb wines, remarkable en primeurs and which then confirm this in the bottle. The 2019 presents itself with a very dense, opaque color with purple reflections. The aromas are intense and of great purity with blueberry, smoky notes and high class aging. The wine is dense, incredibly concentrated while presenting a silky texture without heaviness, with a high level of aging. It is even more harmonious than the remarkable 2018 with more harmonious tannins. It is at the level of a premier cru classé. It was made with 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is within a few hundredths the percentage of previous years. ”

JEB DUNNUCK:  95-97 points

"This rising superstar estate in Saint-Émilion has produced another brilliant wine in 2019. Based largely on Merlot brought up in new French oak, it reveals a dense purple hue as well as a powerful bouquet of black raspberry and cassis interwoven with plenty of graphite , candied violets, cedary spice, and chocolatey oak. This powerful, full-bodied Saint-Émilion stays beautifully balanced and has building tannins, a vibrant spine of acidity, and classic minerality on the finish. It's already hard to resist given the purity of fruit and silky tannins, but it's going to benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and keep for 20 years or more. "

WINE ADVOCATE:  93-95 + points

"Composed of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon with a potential of 14.5% alcohol and aging in 100% new French oak barrels, the 2019 Croix de Labrie has a very deep purpleblack color. The nose opens with some very classy cedary notes, giving way to a profound core of baked plums, blackberry preserves and blueberry pie with touches of licorice, chargrilled meats, mocha and eucalyptus with a waft of red roses. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, the palate has wonderful vibrancy for its weight, with a solid backbone of plush, ripe tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. This chateau has been on a roll recently — I am more and more impressed every year. "

DECANT:  93 points

"Croix de Labrie always delivers a wine that is bursting with fruit and certainly you have polish and glamor here, with things are smartly reined in on the finish. Excellent quality, gourmet and velvety but not overdoing anything with tons of plump damson and black cherry . A yield of 25hl / ha (after selection, it was 30hl / ha at harvest), 100% new oak. Harvest September 20 to October 2, vinified in stainless steel vats and 500l oak barrels. "

ROD SMITH:  91-92 points

"Very intense deep purple color. Deep packed spices and sweet coffee oak scents. Sweet juicy black fruit aromas underneath. Flavor packed with ripe tannins, concentrated black berries and spiced fruits. Cocoa dust and coffee bean oak. Enough balancing acidity, very long warm warm finish. Very good. "
